As the twins reached 4 months our pediatrician suggested that we started adding rice cereal to their formula. Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Level 2 allow for the cereal to be used with the formula in their regular bottles. These nipples also allow for a faster feeding so the kids don't have to work as hard. I would suggest the first couple of times being very vigilant watching the amount consumed. Likely, your child has been sucking pretty hard at the Level 1s and will continue this intensity with the new nipples. You will look away for a minute and notice 4 ounces gone in a blink of the eye.A little more information for those who are starting the switch to cereal. For whatever reason we actually use both Dr Brown's and Avent bottles. Our son uses the Dr Browns while our girl uses the Avent. When we started adding cereal we changed to the 3 month Avent nipples when we changed to these nipples. I... I also find their nipple flow rates are best and match what my baby needs at the stated age most closely. With these, she drinks fairly quickly but we don't get tons of milk dripping down her chin. My only complaint is the two pack. The bottles come in packs of three, right? Shouldn't the nipples be available in the same quantity. Also, what about people that need to use this product for formula? I don't think the other negative review is fair. I have been extremely happy with the Dr Browns products, this one included. It's made to use with the Dr. Browns bottles and fits fine. No leaking. I moved my baby to this size recently at 8 months. He breastfeeds and takes a bottle at daycare. I purchased these and also the level three after he started collapsing the level 1 nipples in an attempt to get the milk out. I personally didn't have any problems with him preferring the bottle. He still prefers to breastfeed over the bottle, even though we are using both level 2 and 3 flow. |
